An evening of Musical Theatre and Light Opera

Favourites from Musical Theatre and Light Opera

Thank you to all those who came along to our wonderful evening of Favourites from Musical Theatre and Light Opera on Saturday 13th August.  The rugby clubhouse and terrace were decorated with bunting and fairy lights to create a magical atmosphere with some of the audience bringing their own candelabra and flowers to dress their picnic table.

Cameo Opera’s Judith Buckle, Claire Willamson, Ian Parrett and Matthew Craven accompanied by their wonderful pianist, Kenneth Roberts, performed a dazzling array of musical arrangements from popular musicals, films and of course operas.  Their musical appetizer started with Brindisi from La Traviata and the audience enjoyed a rousing performance of The Toreador’s Song from Carmen before the encore.  The Flower Duet performed by Judith and Claire was particularly special as it was accompanied by impromptu birdsong from the surrounding trees!

The Charity and Rye RFC would like to thank Cameo Opera for giving the audience such an engaging evening, and all those who came along to support the event.  Future events are being planned so please visit their websites and social media platforms for more information or check local press for details.

The finale of the series of joint events for this summer will be It’s a ChaRYEity Knockout on Saturday 3 September at Rye RFC.  A day of family fun and entertainment for all is planned so please go along and enjoy yourselves!  Full details are at https://ryehospital.org.uk/event/its-a-charyeity-knockout/
