The Bladder and Bowel Advisory Service offers:
- Appointments to advise patients over 19 years of age with bladder and/or bowel problems with follow up appointments as necessary
- Referral to other specialist teams if appropriate
- Aids such as penile sheaths, bowel irrigation, intermittent self-catheterisation and continence pads
- Advice on other aids available to incontinent women
- Visits and support to Nursing Homes, Residential Homes and Learning Disability Homes
- Review of District Nursing team assessments and advice or pads as required
The team is based cross site at Bexhill Hospital and Hailsham Health Centre but also provide clinics in the areas below:
- Eastbourne Hailsham and Seaford and Hastings and Rother CCG areas
- Arthur Blackman Clinic
- Bexhill Hospital
- Bexhill Health Centre
- Hailsham Health Centre
- Ian Gow Health Centre
- Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital
- Seaford Health Centre
Referrals can be submitted to the service by patients, carers, relatives or any other healthcare providers. The team accept telephone referrals along with HSCC forms, GP letters and specialist nurse emails on the central contact number of 0300 1314355 for the whole of the bladder and bowel service.
A patient with any concerns regarding urinary or faecal problems would fulfil the criteria. Please note that housebound patients should be referred to the District Nursing Team.
