The Adult Echocardiography clinic provides diagnostic imaging using ultrasound to safely make assessment of the heart’s structure and function. The clinic was made possible through the purchase of a new machine funded by the Friends of the Hospital at Rye.
Referrals can be made directly from the GP or from in-hospital. The clinic at Rye which started on 2 February 2022, will be run on the first Wednesday of each month. Subject to demand, the frequency of the clinic will be reviewed and potentially increased.
The purpose of the clinic is to reduce waiting times and provide a service closer to a patient’s home and away from the acute hospital in line with NHS England recommendations.
In the future it is hoped to develop the service into other non-invasive diagnostic tests such as ECG monitoring and pacemaker checks.
